Featured Artist - Rich Schmid, Branchin’ Out

Friday, January 16th, 2009

Rich is a retired school principal who has always enjoyed working with wood as a hobby.  Nine years ago he discovered the creativity that a wood lathe, chisels and a piece of firewood can inspire.

He also enjoys the continued study of vessel design, many different turning techniques, as well as the properties of different woods.  He tries to leave a piece of Mother Nature in most of his works.  He has advanced his art by incorporating carving, dying, painting, burning and filling voids with rock to make his pieces unique.

Each piece is unique in itself as Mother Nature dictates much of the shape.  Besides the many functional pieces such as salad and nut bowls, he creates many decorative pieces for the dining room table, entrance way, mantels etc.

Vedder Mountain Hardwoods New Site

Friday, December 5th, 2008

After trying out several different website platforms, Mike and I decided on the Wordpress powered E-Commerce platform.  We’ll still be operating our Vedder Mountain Hardwoods eBay Store, but on a much smaller scale.  Our new site will have product pages and a shopping cart as well as informative articles, videos and general woodworking information. If there’s something you’re looking for that is not listed in our product pages, please contact us directly and we’ll do our best to help you find it.

Thanks for your patience while we set the new site up.  If you have any comments or suggestions to help us improve our site, we not only welcome them… we encourage them.

Thanks for visiting,

Mike and Christina
